I’m partial to a bit of ‘live’ trip blogging so for the next 10 days I’ll be attempting to bring you a day by day account of my trip to Punta Gorda, Florida.
Day 2 and I’m still getting up bright and early. I wonder how long it will take for that to start to slide? I was awake at 7am and up and about by 7.30am. I had a leisurely morning doing nothing much really and a Skype session with Liam to show him the villa. I also set up my new Instax camera which I absolutely love!
By about 10.30am we were all ready and headed out to Port Charlotte Town Centre mall. We walked for what felt like forever here, and I didn’t buy anything but we did happen about some funny bits and pieces.
We’re in the mall and my dad won’t take his sunglasses off. He said he can see in everywhere “except Hollister” 😂😂 pic.twitter.com/0wOI88HxVJ

After the mall we were all already tired and cranky but we stopped at Target, Best Buy and Publix for some bits for dinner. On the way back home, we stopped at a little local ice cream parlour we had tried when we were last here in 2015. It’s called Swirls n Curls and it’s ‘the best ice cream in Englewood’.
My mom had two scoops of peach which she said she’d been thinking about for the last two years. My dad had chocolate peanut butter. I had one scoop ‘turtle’ – I’m obsessed with this because it doesn’t exist in any way shape or form in the UK but comprises some of my favourite things! – and one scoop of Mississippi Mud Pie. Finally we were back home by about 3.30pm – seems like a long time to be out shopping!
I read my book and relaxed for a bit before getting in the pool at about quarter to five. I promised myself before I came I would do 100 up and downs of the pool every day to keep up some semblance of fitness. It took me about an hour of doing it slowly and having some breaks.
At about 6.30pm we ate dinner, a traditional seaside dinner we have when we’re here! Salmon, with lots of different side items including corn on the cob, potato salad, salad and bread sticks.
After dinner I’ve been reading some more, and once again I’m on the verge of falling asleep.
Current step count (as of 8:44pm): 7,172
Number of lengths swam: 100
Will I ever be writing this and not falling asleep? Stay tuned to find out!
