Before I embarked on my latest trip to Disneyland Paris last week, I started to share my Disney OOTD plans. It was a bit of a fail because I, well… Didn’t post them after the first one! But to rectify that, I’ll share my outfit snaps from the Happiest Place on Earth across one week of blogs. Today – my handmade Tower of Terror dress.

When I went to Florida last month, I knew I’d be getting a tiny hint of Disney magic in the form of a trip to Disney Springs before heading back to the airport. My birthday was a few days after I left, and it was only a couple of months earlier the Dress Shop had opened in Disney Springs.

The Dress Shop sells vintage and pin up style clothing, much of it themed on the rides and ideology of Disney World. Of course, I had my heart set on the Tower of Terror dress for a birthday present. Fast forward to my trip to Disney Springs though, and my size wasn’t available. I had spent the whole holiday saying to myself my size wouldn’t be available, and I knew it was coming, but it was still disappointing.

There were a couple of things I didn’t like about the dress anyway – including that it was a halter neck. My mom and I vowed we would create our own Tower of Terror bell hop dress, instead. So I left the store armed with the Tower of Terror suitcase handbag, but nothing else. The thought of making my own dress gave me something to look forward to after my post-holiday slump.

We spent evenings before I went to Paris furiously sewing (me learning to read the pattern and use a sewing machine). There were some horrible disasters, but I couldn’t have hoped for a better dress. If you’ll remember on my birthday post, it was one of my goals for the year to sew a dress. Well, I did it!

I couldn’t be happier with how this turned out and the pictures Liam took for me in Paris were amazing. He somehow made me look alone in a park full of people and the old Hollywood style streets of the Walt Disney Studios in Paris couldn’t have made my dress look any more at home.

I can’t wait to wear this dress again, and I feel so proud of it.
