Throughout the month of August I will be taking part in a poetry challenge. Today’s challenge is to write a poem that includes all of the following words: pistachio, ink, pebble, weather, varnish.

The atmosphere leaves a stale taste,
The raindrops leave a varnish on the concrete
As the weather comes down as a sheet.
An ink coloured pebble hides deeper in the sand,
The beach is not a pleasant place in the grey
So I suppose we will come back another day.
Your bucket is pistachio green,
A flash of colour against the everlasting dull
As the sea air scares away the gull.

Today’s challenge was a bit random, but I didn’t find it that hard to slot the words in. I start writing and the beach theme for the poem came afterwards.
