Throughout the month of August I will be taking part in a poetry challenge. Today’s challenge is to write a seven line poem that begins with “it’s true that fresh air is good for the body” (from Frank O’Hara’s poem “Ave Maria”) and ends with “this is our body” (from Gary Snyder’s “The Bath”).

It’s true that fresh air is good for the body
Though some people prefer to drive cars
But I like to get out and stroll round the place
It’s good for the heart, after all
And if you’re a car driver you should take heed
You only get one chance
This is our body

I have no idea where I was going with this poem… It sounded ok until that final sentence haha!
