Throughout the month of August I will be taking part in a poetry challenge. Today’s challenge is to write a short poem that a child would like.

The Pandarangutan is not quite a bear
He swings from the trees without a care
If you saw him you’d point your finger and stare
He’s a creature of which I doubt you’re aware
His mane is black fur
And his voice is a purr
As he hisses a ‘grrrrrrr’
All the monkeys concur
Eating leaves from the trees
And bananas from the Bahamas
He’s part Panda and part Orangutan,
Catch a glimpse of him if you can.

I love the Pandarangutan! It’s a short story idea I’ve had for years.
