The Birmingham German Christmas Market comes but once a year, but this year, I’ve been fortunate enough to visit a few times!
I was happy to meet some amazing fellow blogging ladies at the #BloggerHalloweenParty, and we decided to meet up and head to the market a few weekends ago. I have to admit, it is the same five stalls repeated again and again and again (the same as every year!) but it was such a good day out to get us into the Festive Spirit.
We each spent a ton of time just walking a few feet, taking an inordinate amount of pictures of, admittedly, nothing and then carrying on! We headed down the main street and once we made it up to the square we stopped for a bite to eat and drink.
I grabbed a bratwurst, how could I not?! It’s tradition of course and it’s lovely. I always choose the red meat and have never tried the white one, though last year the man working at the market told me the red one was better. Have you tried the white one – how was it?!
I was also happy to try a warm cherry wine, though it went down with a shock as it was boiling hot. I don’t drink hot drinks except hot chocolate in the winter so I’m not used to hot liquids at all and it scolded me a tad. It was super tasty though. A couple of the girls also had hot chocolates, which looked super nice.
We popped down the street on the opposite side, taking in more of the stalls as we went, and headed our separate ways once we got back to where we started. I had so much fun with the girls and can’t wait to see them all again.
If you live in or near the Midlands, I would definitely recommend a trip to the Birmingham German Christmas Market to get you in the mood. We visited on a Sunday and that was a brilliant call as we turned up early (just passed 10am) and it was lovely and quiet compared to times when I’ve visited on a Friday or Saturday evening and you can’t move!
Have you visited the Birmingham German Christmas Market this year? What did you think?
